social-media

Social media is a huge part of most of our lives. From facebook to twitter to instragram and pinterest, our social lives our out there. Not only do we have accounts, but many companies and businesses are participating in the social media space. I actually love that big companies are paying attention on social media. I enjoy it when companies interact, answer questions and offer customer service.

A few weeks ago, I ordered a Carmel Macchiato from a Strabucks drive-thru. I was on the highway before I took a sip of my drink. I was in for a surprise with my first sip; it was awful. When I got to my destination, I hopped on twitter and tweeted about my horrible drink while tagging Starbucks. A couple of hours later, Starbucks sent me a reply tweet asking me to contact customer service via email. I filled out a complaint email with all of the info. The result was Starbucks sending me a gift card in the mail! I wasn’t expecting this at all!

My point to the story is, don’t be afraid to reach out to companies via social media. I am not saying to send only complaints either. I also send out tweets to companies when I have a good experience or find a product I like. In fact, when my gift car arrived from Starbucks, I immediately got on twitter bragging about their wonderful customer service.

Social media works both ways. It’s a great way to reach companies for complaints and compliments.
