Okay, how many of you use the powdered Parmesan cheese in a can? Don’t be shy, I used to use it too! In fact I just started using fresh Parmesan cheese a couple of weeks ago! Growing up, we never had fresh Parmesan cheese in the house. It was always the powdery stuff in the green can.
As I was walking through Trader Joe’s, I saw the block of fresh Parmesan cheese and decided to give it a try. I used a fine grater to add the cheese to recipes. It was very easy to grate. The flavor is so much better than the powdery canned stuff too! Parmesan is a dry, hard cheese and it keeps for an extended period in the refrigerator. Just make sure to wrap the cheese in plastic wrap and it should keep well.
Next time a recipe calls for Parmesan, try to freshly grate your own! Your meal will be full of flavor!
