Life With Boys: The Middle Finger

In the car on the way to the store Mr. B starts talking about a cut on his finger. I was in the passenger seat so I turned around to take a look. There sat Mr. B, my sweet 3 year old, with his middle finger propped up in an inappropriate manner. Of course he is totally innocent and has no clue what he is doing!

Me: “It’s not nice to have your middle finger like that.”

Hubby whispering to me: “You shouldn’t have said anything!”

Mr. B: “Why mom? What does it mean? Why?” As he continues to wave the middle finger.

Me: “It’s just not nice.” (In my mind I am thinking we are going to be walking through the store and Mr. B is going to have that middle finger up, waving it at everyone.)

Capt. M (age 5): “It means that you are cursing at God.”

Mr. B: “Oh!”

And with that explanation, the subject was dropped.

THANK YOU Capt. M! He saved the day as I was at a loss for an easy explanation. Capt. M is still very innocent and doesn’t know the real meaning but I am thankful he picked up the “cursing at God” line from one of his classmates!

I just love life with boys, there is never a dull moment!
