Life With Boys: Down Time

Our boys are very active. In fact they never seem to run out of energy- even when they are sick. Mr. B has been sick for a week now with some sort of virus. Even with fevers spiking and head congestion, it is hard to keep the little guy down. We keep telling him that rest is the best medicine but at four, he just can’t embrace that concept!

Of course Capt. M is of no help. Since he is full of energy he wants to romp and wrestle with his little brother.

On Sunday after multiple attempts of telling the boys to find a calm activity, I walked into Mr. B’s room to find his bed in shambles. The boys were using the mattress as a slide. Not really the “calm” activity I was thinking of!

A couple of weeks ago I picked up some craft supplies in the $1 bin section at Target. They were marked down to $0.30 a piece. I just knew that the craft supplies would come in handy at some point! I thought we would use them on a cold rainy day but a sick day won out.

Not only did the boys use glue to make projects, they also came up with their own games. The spread the foam shapes on the floor to make pizza and puzzles.

Capt. M even made a tower out of the triangles.

If you ever come across inexpensive craft items, pick them up for a rainy or sick day. You never know when you will need a backup plan to keep your child busy!
