I made a quick to Kroger for produce and the deal on paper goods mostly. I hit the store at the right time as there were several produce items on markdown with several days of life left in them!
When I placed all of the groceries in the car I looked over my receipt to check the prices and coupons. The Dannon yogurt had a shelf price listed at $1.88 and they rang up at $2.49 and $2.79. I marched right back into the store to the customer service desk. I inquired about the price discrepancy and the cashier didn’t say a word. She just started typing numbers into the register and handed me $5.55 back plus my yogurts! Yes, Kroger has a scan right guarantee. If the item you buy rings at the wrong price (or in this case the ad tag was not taken down), you receive the item for free.

I didn’t know that about the Scan Right Policy. Thanks for the tip!
Yes, the scan right guarantee is wonderful. This is the first time I have had it happen at Kroger. Many stores have this policy or something similar. A good reason to always check the receipt!
I love the scan right guarantee policy! I actually had it happen to me on a 5 lb package of ground beef one time!!! I was tempted to go back and get more of them before they caught on, but figured that would be dishonest :(
Hi Shannon,
Wow, that is a huge mistake for them but a great deal for you! A week later I went to the same Kroger I purchased the yogurt at and the wrong sign was still posted. I didn’t buy them again though- I am with you on the honesty thing! But they should have taken down the signs!
If your arielcts are always this helpful, “I’ll be back.”
I shop in the Kroger store in Batesville, AR. About once a month a mistake is made and I have never heard of the scan right guarantee.
Hi Brenda,
The scan right guarantee is in the official Kroger policy. Sometimes I have to gently remind them of their own policy! Next time, ask when an item rings up wrong. Good luck!
Kroger Scan-Right Guarantee
Kroger has a Scan Right Guarantee that is often advertised on signs in store. Basically, if a product rings up at a price different from the one listed in-store or in-ad, they must give you that product FREE and every additional identical purchase will be adjusted to the sale price.
Rome, GA Krogers Absolute BS. I bought dog chew chips; price $8.89; I was charged $9.95. The first time I was refunded the entire purchase price. Two weeks later, same dog chips, same over ring, I was refunded $5. Three weeks after that, same dog chips, same over ring. When I brought the receipt into Krogers 10/29 at about 5PM and presented the receipt at the service desk, I was given a 97cent refund. When I questioned it, the woman lied right to my face saying that only items under $5 are refunded. I tried reaching Steve Van Meter, Rome, GA store manager, today: 11/1 and nobody knew when he’d be in or available. I asked for the corporate number and when I called, I found a pin was required to complete the call: which the store carefully neglected to give me. I found a customer service number on facebook; 1800 567-4377. When I called that number, I was informed in a l-o-n-g pre-recorded message that I just won a fabulous Bahamas cruise and after the entire speel, was given the choice to opt out, which I did. Then I was treated to the entire speel again giving me a second chance for just $59, etc. etc. When I opted out the 2nd time, I got a busy signal. You think this isn’t going out to every blog in the world – think again. Crystal, Rome, GA. a former loyal customer.
Hi Crystal,
I am sorry you had such a bad experience at your Georgia Kroger. I am surprised that they let the price ring wrong for so many weeks! I do think the policy is for items under $5 though. Try talking to the manager in the store again.
Good luck!
Renea, the policy I posted came right off the kroger website. It is not $5 item – it is any item that rings higher than listed. The website address is: http://ingoodcents.com/stores/kroger and it states It does not say items of $5 or less; it states: Basically, if a product rings up at a price different from the one listed in-store or in-ad, they must give you that product FREE and every additional identical purchase will be adjusted to the sale price. But thank you for the reply. Crystal
Hi Crystal,
InGoodCents.com is not Kroger. Beth runs that blog and she is an acquaintance of mine. She has listed the coupon policy and Kroger policy on her blog for reference but keep in mind that policy does change. The Kroger website is Kroger.com. Good luck!
