Snack Packs

Buying prepackaged snack mixes can be expensive. Plus I don’t like the added ingredients like preservatives! On the weekends I usually put together a homemade snack mix for the boys lunch. I found these small plastic containers at the Dollar Tree which work out perfect.

I don’t have a recipe I follow for the snack mix. I simply pull out whatever I have in my pantry. Here are some ideas to put in your snack mix:

  • Nuts (Almonds, cashews, peanuts, etc.)
  • Seeds (Sunflower seeds, pumpkin seeds)
  • Dried Fruit (Raisins, craisins, banana chips, dried apple, etc.)
  • Sweet (Chocolate chips, peanut butter chips, M&M’s, marshmallows)
  • Dried Cereal
  • Popcorn

I usually try for a combination of salty and sweet!

Having these little snack packs ready to go for lunch packing is a huge time saver. Plus they are easy to grab as we are heading out the door to a baseball game!

  1. What a great idea. I usually buy the prepackaged trail mix at Walmart but this is much better! Can I see a side view of the containers just so I can judge the size? Thanks.
