Since we have a vegetable garden, we try to make our own compost as much as possible. However, some foods take a long time to breakdown. Things like banana peels can take up to 12 weeks to breakdown if left whole. That’s why the Green Cycler was created!
I received a Green Cycler to review and try out. Basically, the Green Cycler is a pre-composter; it shreds produce into smaller pieces. The smaller pieces will turn into compost at a faster rate! For instance, a shredded banana peel would only take two weeks to breakdown instead of twelve.
The Green Cycler works by placing the produce to breakdown in a top bin. You turn a handle and the blades shred the produce. The shredded produce falls to a bin below.
The bin on the bottom can then be pulled out and the shredded produce can be placed in your compost bin.
The blades easily cut through an apple core. The booklet also says it will cut through an avocado pit! Pretty cool!
Most of the Green Cycler parts can be put in the dishwasher which is really handy. There are also suction cups on the bottom so that it can easily attach to your counter. My only issue with the Green Cycler is that it does take up counter space.
I will be doing a seven day challenge next week with a giveaway for a Green Cycler- so stay tuned!
Disclosure: I was provided with a Green Cycler for review purposes. All opinions expressed are mine.
