General Mills Cereal

Did you know that cereal is one of the healthiest breakfast options? My boys love cereal and eat it almost everyday. Not only do they eat cereal for breakfast, but they love to snack on dry Cheerios.

General Mills just conducted a breakfast survey in the D.C. area. In the survey, 97% of parents said that breakfast was important for children to eat. Studies have shown that kids who eat breakfast tend to perform better in school and have fewer disciplinary problems. They also have shown that breakfast also tends to help kids stay alert. I couldn’t agree more. I don’t know how my boys do it, but they like to eat as soon as they wakeup. The first words out of their mouth are usually “what can we eat?” I guess they are growing!

When I buy cereal for my boys I look for cereals high in fiber, whole grain and low sugar. I do buy them the more sugary cereals for a snack- they love Lucky Charms and Cinnamon Toast Crunch dry! For breakfast we try to stick to cereals like Cheerios or Chex. If we don’t have time for a bowl of cereal with milk, the boys take dry cereal in the car.

Check out the General Mills site Cereal Benefits for more information how cereal is a nutritious choice for breakfast.
