Bento Lunch

I have seen bento style lunches for kids on Pinterest and blogs for the last couple of years. This year I decided to give it a try! We are starting the third week of school and my boys LOVE their lunches!  The bento box has made it easier for me to pack healthy options for their lunches too. The little compartments are perfect. Seeing the various colors of food in one container really draws the eye in. Plus kids like having a variety of choices!

Easy Lunchboxes

The bento box that we use is Easy Lunchboxes. There are three compartments and the plastic is BPA free. Amazon has a four pack for $13.95. The large compartment does hold a sandwich! We alternate between sandwiches and deli meat and cheese.

If I need more compartments, I use a baking cup liner. Right now I use disposable ones since we have a ton. But I have seen people use the silicone baking cups which are washable.

On Sunday night I usually start the lunch making process for the week. I chop any veggies that will be for lunches, prepare any homemade foods (i.e. granola bars, larabars, muffins, etc.) and make jell-o or pudding. The Easy Lunchboxes small compartment is perfect for jell-o or pudding. A small box of jell-o will fill four of the small compartments. I just place the liquid right in the container to jell! Having the prep-work done makes the morning go a lot smoother!

Have you tried bento boxes? What are your favorite foods to send?
