Many times after summer, I (Litsa) have found these Mason Ball jars on sale. This past summer, I never came across a summer closeout sale and it was the one season that I needed a pantry full of them! It seemed that every time I opened the cupboard, I was looking for a glass ball jar. I use them for everything. Thus, last week I finally opted to buy a case at Kroger for the price listed on the sticker—around $9. I washed my new set of jars in the dishwasher and let them dry. Then, I set more than half aside to use at a later date but when I reached for yet one more ball jar, there wasn’t one to be found! Obviously, these jars are a hot commodity in my kitchen.
I use these glass jars to store items in my pantry: Trail mix, brown sugar, caramel, pumpkin seeds, oatmeal, granola, and more. It is easy to decipher what I’m searching for when I can see what’s in each jar as soon as I open my pantry.
When I juice ahead of schedule (usually enough for two juices for the following day), I use the jars to house the fresh juice. The lids keep the juice fresh. Additionally, I can add a straw and ice and drink from the Ball jar.
I also use these glass jars to make Overnight Oatmeal in a Jar. I eat my breakfast and/or snack oatmeal right out of the jar! They are perfect for shaking the ingredients together and stirring them all once again before eating!
If a jar mouth happens to chip, I use it to catch odds and ends that need to be contained for our next art project! One jar even holds paint brushes in our kitchen window seal. And just when I thought I had enough Ball jars, I saw this creative painted jar—-a project from UCreate;’s Facebook page (Linked to The Crafted Sparrow) that I just must try!?!
And now that spring is in full spring, I must hop on over to the store one more time for another case or two!?! Canning season will follow this season (see our canning recipes here) and I must be prepared with enough Mason Jars!
How many Ball jars grace your kitchen space!?!
