Menu planning is key to saving time and money. I try to menu plan our dinners during the work week and when I do life is so much easier! Some days do work out as planned though. Whether someone is sick, an event popped up or tiredness sets in, sometimes the menu plan just doesn’t work. In these situations I always have a backup meal plan. Having a backup plan will prevent you from being tempted to eat out!
Think of at least five fast meals that can be made in a matter of minutes. Make sure that these fast meals are made from ingredients you have on hand regularly. Some fast meals that we often revert to when the menu plan doesn’t work out are:
Tacos
Quesadillas
Breakfast for dinner
Sandwiches
Spaghetti
The other plus side to these easy meals is that hubby can make all of them! That means if the menu is changing due to my schedule, hubby can easily jump in with one of the above meals.
