3 Types of Flowers to Plant in a Vegetable Garden

This year I planted three flowering plants in our vegetable garden. These flowering plants all ward off pests. The other benefit is they attract bees! We need bees in the garden for pollination.

Borage

Borage: Is a tall blue flowering herb. It has bristly hairs all over the stems and leaves. The leaves are edible and can be used in salads for a garnish. Borage is a good companion plant for tomatoes. It deters the moths that become tomato hornworms.

Marigold

Marigolds: A common flower that is easy to grow is the Marigold. They come in a variety of colors. Marigolds deter tomato hornworms, white flies, nematodes and flea beetles. We planted Marigolds all over the garden since they are great companion plants for just about everything.

Nasturtium

Nasturtium: Rich jewel tone flowers bloom on the Nasturtium. These are bushy plants and really take off! Nasturtiums have edible flowers. They deter squash bugs.

What plants do you plant in your garden as companion plants?
