Since we made homemade hot cocoa this year I wanted to make something to go along with it for gift giving. I found candy cane striped straws at the Dollar Tree (12 ct. for $1). They are perfect for making hot cocoa stirrers!
Chocolate Dipped Marshmallow Stirrers
Large Marshmallows
Chocolate Chips
Straws or Candy Canes
Sugar Sprinkles
Place chocolate chips in a microwave safe dish. Microwave for 1 minute and then stir. Microwave at 1 minute intervals until melted. Place a large marshmallow on the end of each straw or candy cane.
I used a tall plastic cup to hold the straws and keep the marshmallows upright. Dip the marshmallows partially into the chocolate. Just cover the end of the marshmallow with chocolate.
Apply sprinkles to chocolate. We used colored sugar but you could also use other edible decorations.
Refrigerate until the chocolate has hardened. The cup came in handy for allowing the chocolate to dry!
Of course if there is extra chocolate, it’s really yummy to eat on marshmallows! My little helper, Mr. B, enjoyed this part!
When the chocolate is set, package the stirrers in a cello bag. For a gift, place a jar of hot cocoa mix and the marshmallow stirrers in a mug.
