Are your packages starting to arrive via FedEx, UPS, or UPSP? As you’re unwrapping your items are you left with a heaping pile of garbage to toss?
STOP!
Think GREEN projects! Take a second look at that pile of “garbage” and think about craft projects or ways you can reuse the packaging!
- The bubble wrap can be used to wrap and store away special, keepsake ornaments after Christmas! Just toss your bubble wrap in your empty Christmas bins. It will remind you to wrap those special pieces well after Christmas.
- The box obviously can be used to wrap a gift for someone on your shopping list! Often times, children don’t even look at the brown box. They’re interested in what is inside! So use it to wrap their gifts. Odd sized boxes enhance the surprise for older children or family members. Don’t toss, reuse those boxes!
- The cardboard can be used for a family of Gingerbread Men/Women/Children (and if you’re really creative pets)! Just use a freelance cut to create the gingerbread person cut out—I used scissors for ours! Set these aside to decorate with markers, googly eyes, glitter etc. on a rainy, cold winter day! The creations will become favorites among your children and can be displayed as you wish and/or used for new stories each night. Let the gingerbread characters come to life!
- Use a recycled cardboard box for your paint palette if you choose to use paints to decorate your gingerbread family!
What other GREEN projects are you creating this season?
