A few weeks ago I shared a Sausage & Cheese Wonton Appetizer recipe with you. I decided to modify the recipe a bit and use some Johnsonville Italian Sausage. Wow! These little appetizers were packed with flavor. I have an exciting announcement from Johnsonville Sausage coming regarding a charity event called Blog for a Cause. Until then, enjoy some sausage!
Italian Sausage Wonton Appetizer
1 Package Wonton Wrappers
1 Package Johnsonville Italian Sausage
2 Cups Shredded Cheddar Cheese
1 Small Red Bell Pepper, finely chopped
1/2 Cup Mayonnaise
Parsley for garnish
Heat oven to 350 degrees.
Lightly grease a muffin pan. Place one wonton wrapper in each muffin cup lightly pressing it onto the bottom and sides of the pan. Bake for 5 minutes or until edges are slightly browned. In a large skillet cook sausage until no longer pink. Remove sausage from the pan.
In a bowl mix sausage, red peppers, cheese and mayonnaise. Place a spoonful of filling into each wonton cup inside the muffin pan. Bake for 6-7 minutes or until heated through. Add parsley for garnish.
Tips
- If you have leftover sausage filling, it is also excellent in a tortilla as a breakfast burrito! This was hubby’s idea and it was very good!
- Add sauteed onion for even more flavor.
- Try different varieties of cheese.
Disclosure: Johnsonville provided me with the sausage in order to create recipes for Blog for a Cause. All opinions expressed are mine.
