I Am Not A Super Hero Mom

Being a mom is a big job- you are not only responsible for yourself but for another person. Being a parent is a learning experience; not only will you have success but you will have failures too. Being a mom is one of the most rewarding jobs while at the same time it is one of the toughest.

I would love to say that I am a perfect mom, especially on Mother’s Day. But the truth is, I am not a Super Hero Mom:

I make mistakes.

I yell when I know I shouldn’t.

Sometimes there are not enough hours in the day to get it all done.

I am a push over at times.

I get frustrated and stressed easily.

I am forgetful.

Sometimes I am too tired to cook dinner so the boys eat Chef Boyardee.

I worry when there is no need to.

I occasionally use words that I shouldn’t.

The house is not as clean as it should be and there are clean clothes in the laundry basket that will probably never make it to the closet.

I am a work in progress.

But with all of the above, I also know that I am the best mom for my boys. I am not perfect; I am human after all. I make mistakes- but I learn from those mistakes. I provide for my boys the best that I know how.

In the end I am not a Super Hero Mom but I am a normal every day mom that loves her kids with all my heart!

Capt. M made the above pot holder at preschool that I adore. That is one pot holder that will never be used but find it’s way displayed on our wall. The poem attached to it reads:

I miss you when we’re not together
I’m growing up so fast
See how big I’ve gotten
since you saw me last?
As I grow, I’ll change a lot,
the years will fly right by.
You’ll wonder how I grew so quick
When and where and why?
So look upon this hand print
that’s hanging on your wall.
And memories will come back of me,
when I was very small.

Happy Mother’s Day to all of you! I hope you enjoy the day and realize that even though you are not a Super Hero Mom, you are the best mom for your kids!
