This weekend the boys and I spent time making some crafts for Valentine’s Day. I used items that I had on hand. There are many cute things you can do that cost next to nothing!
Tissue Paper Flowers
Pipe Cleaners
White Tissue Paper
Markers
Spray Bottle of Water
Lay 10 sheets of tissue paper on top of each other. Cut out a bone shape. It does not have to be perfect!
Color with marker on the top sheet of the tissue. Any design will work. Flip the stack of tissue paper over and color the bottom tissue as well.
Use a pipe cleaner to poke a hole through the middle of the tissue paper stack. Twist the pipe cleaner to make a ball so the pipe cleaner does not fall out.
Spray the tissue paper with water. You want the marker to smear, but try not to drench the paper. Spray the top and bottom layer lightly.
Let the paper dry a bit. I gently separated the layers before the tissue dried completely to prevent sticking. I just placed the flower in a sunny window and let it dry quite a bit before I moved the layers around.
When almost dry, gently twist the layers around the pipe cleaner. Alternate the layers to form petals.
Once the petals are formed, pinch the bottom layer of tissue paper.
Wrap the pipe cleaner around the pinched tissue paper to secure the stem.
The finished project:
Mr. B loved this project! I helped him make most of the flowers above. Not only are they a fun centerpiece, you can use them to decorate a gift! Or how about deliver a bouquet of Tissue Paper Flowers to a loved one- they will last longer than cut flowers and they are much cheaper!
